Music
From soloist performances to logistics leadership, music was a defining thread through high school.
North Gwinnett Band
At North Gwinnett High School, Perry immersed himself in the band program with the same intensity he brought to everything else. The North Gwinnett Band was known for its competitive excellence and demanding standards, a perfect fit for someone who thrived on challenge and discipline.
Perry played trumpet in the marching band, contributing to halftime performances and competitions that required precision, teamwork, and countless hours of practice. But his involvement didn't stop at playing an instrument.
Symphonic Winds Soloist
In the Symphonic Winds, North Gwinnett's premier concert ensemble, Perry distinguished himself as a soloist. Being selected to perform solo features in this competitive program was a testament to his technical skill and musical expression, the hours of individual practice paying off in moments of spotlight performance.
These solo performances developed a confidence and stage presence that would serve Perry well beyond the concert hall, in boardrooms and speaking engagements years later.
Logistics Captain
Leadership in band wasn't just about musical ability, it was about keeping the entire operation running. As Logistics Captain, Perry was responsible for the behind-the-scenes coordination that made performances possible: equipment transport, scheduling, uniform management, and coordination across dozens of moving parts.
This early exposure to large-scale operations management planted seeds that would later bloom in his entrepreneurial ventures, where organizing complex systems and managing resources became second nature.
Church Music Ministry
Outside of school, Perry's musical talents found a home at Duluth First United Methodist Church. As a member of the Chamber Brass, a small group of musicians that played at Sunday services, he brought his trumpet skills into a worship context, performing solo features that added a special dimension to church services.
Perry also served as the principal bassist in the church choir, demonstrating versatility that extended beyond brass instruments. This faith-based musical involvement reinforced the connection between his talents and his values that continues to define his work today.
