JSU Club Swimming

From blueprints to nationally recognized program, founding JSU Club Swimming and competing at the highest levels.

Building from Blueprints

When Perry arrived at Jacksonville State University, there was no swim program. For a state-level high school swimmer, this wasn't just a gap, it was an opportunity. Perry single-handedly created what would become a nationally recognized program in just two years of building. This feat is incredibly rare in collegiate athletics.

Perry built this program from blueprints into a competitive club that hosted meets and competed with the likes of UGA, Alabama, and Auburn. He designed the internal operating system for the club program, the structure, processes, and culture that would allow the organization to function at a high level.

Competing at the National Level

While building and leading JSU Club Swimming, Perry also competed as a USMS (United States Masters Swimming) National athlete, taking his swimming from high school state-level competition to the national stage. This dual role as both program builder and elite-level competitor demonstrated an exceptional capacity for leadership while maintaining personal excellence.

Perry continues to stay active in the swim community as a certified USMS official, giving back to the sport that has been such a defining part of his life.

Coaching Career

Perry's involvement with swimming extended beyond competing to coaching. He served as a coach for the Anniston Barracudas in 2023, working with swimmers of all levels to develop their skills and competitive edge. He also coached for the JSU program from 2022 to 2026, shaping the next generation of collegiate swimmers.

In recognition of his coaching ability and leadership, Perry was selected to serve asHead Coach of the Atlanta Athletic Club Barracudas for Summer 2026, one of the most prestigious swim programs in the Southeast.

This coaching experience reinforced Perry's leadership philosophy: build others up, create systems that work, and leave things better than you found them.

Entrepreneurial DNA

Looking back, founding JSU Club Swimming was Perry's first real entrepreneurial venture. It required identifying a need, building a solution from scratch, rallying people around a vision, and executing on the operational details that make or break any new organization. The parallels to founding Luzran years later are unmistakable.

JSU Club Swimming proved that Perry could take an idea from concept to nationally recognized reality, a skill that would define his professional career.

Legacy

JSU Club Swimming continues beyond Perry's founding tenure, which is perhaps the greatest measure of its success. In two years, Perry transformed a non-existent program into one that competed with SEC schools. Building something that outlasts your direct involvement, that creates value for people you may never meet, is a mark of true leadership.

It's the same principle that drives Perry's work at Luzran: build things that serve others long after you've moved to the next challenge.
